Cuba condemns and denounces new escalation of US economic blockade<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Statement by the Revolutionary Government<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Revolutionary Government condemns in the strongest terms the new escalation by the US government against Cuba in its efforts to impose a total blockade on fuel supplies to our country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The executive order issued by the US President on January 29, 2026, declares a supposed national emergency, under which his government will be able to impose trade tariffs on imports of products from countries that supply oil to Cuba. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To justify such extreme action, the text of the order contains an extensive list of lies and defamatory accusations against Cuba. Among them is the absurd assertion that Cuba constitutes an \u201cunusual and extraordinary threat\u201d to the national security of the United States. The President himself and his government are aware that no one, or very few, can believe such mendacious arguments, but they do not care. Such is their contempt for the truth, public opinion, and government ethics when it comes to endorsing their aggression against Cuba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this decision, the United States government, through blackmail, threats, and direct coercion of third countries, is attempting to impose additional pressure on the economic suffocation measures that have been in place since Trump’s first term to prevent fuel from entering our country. It consolidates a dangerous way of conducting U.S. foreign policy by force and exercising its ambitions to guarantee its imperialist hegemony. As announced, that country claims the right to dictate to sovereign states which nations they can trade with and to which they can export their domestic products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The executive order of the President of the United States therefore constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and also violates the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace. It confirms that it is the government of that country that is threatening the security, stability, and peace of the region and the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The government of the United States has reached this point after 67 years of failing to surrender and destroy a genuine and legitimate political and revolutionary process of full sovereignty, social justice, and the promotion of peace and solidarity with the rest of the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cuba’s historical willingness to engage in serious, responsible dialogue with the United States government, based on international law, sovereign equality, mutual respect, reciprocal benefit, non-interference in internal affairs, and absolute respect for the independence and sovereignty of states, is widely documented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As everyone knows, including the US government itself, Cuba poses no threat whatsoever to the United States, its national interests, or the well-being of its citizens, who, moreover, have always been treated with respect and hospitality when their government has allowed them to visit the island. Cuba does not threaten or attack any country. It is not subject to sanctions by the international community. It is a peaceful, supportive, and cooperative country, willing to help and contribute to other States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is also a country of a brave and combative people. Imperialism is mistaken when it believes that economic pressure and the determination to cause suffering to millions of people will break their determination to defend national sovereignty and prevent Cuba from falling, once again, under US domination. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The international community faces the unavoidable challenge of determining whether a crime of this nature could be a sign of things to come or whether sanity, solidarity, and the rejection of aggression, impunity, and abuse will prevail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will face this new attack with firmness, equanimity, and the certainty that reason is absolutely on our side. The decision is one: Homeland or Death, We Shall Overcome!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Declaraci\u00f3n del Gobierno Revolucionario <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

El Gobierno Revolucionario condena en los t\u00e9rminos m\u00e1s en\u00e9rgicos la nueva escalada del gobierno de los Estados Unidos contra Cuba, en su empe\u00f1o por imponer un cerco absoluto a los suministros de combustible a nuestro pa\u00eds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La orden ejecutiva del Presidente estadounidense, anunciada el 29 de enero de 2026, declara una supuesta emergencia nacional, en virtud de la cual su gobierno podr\u00e1 imponer aranceles comerciales a las importaciones de productos provenientes de pa\u00edses que suministren petr\u00f3leo a Cuba. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Para justificar una acci\u00f3n tan extrema, se esgrime en el texto de la referida orden una lista extensa de mentiras y acusaciones difamatorias contra Cuba. Destaca entre ellas la absurda aseveraci\u00f3n de que Cuba constituye una “amenaza inusual y extraordinaria” para la seguridad nacional de los Estados Unidos. El propio Presidente y su gobierno est\u00e1n conscientes de que nadie o muy pocos pueden creer argumentos tan mendaces, pero no les importa. As\u00ed es su desprecio por la verdad, la opini\u00f3n p\u00fablica y la \u00e9tica gubernamental cuando se trata de avalar su agresi\u00f3n contra Cuba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Con esta decisi\u00f3n, el gobierno de los Estados Unidos, a trav\u00e9s del chantaje, la amenaza y la coerci\u00f3n directa a terceros pa\u00edses, intenta imponer componentes adicionales de presi\u00f3n a las acciones de asfixia econ\u00f3mica que desde el primer mandato de Trump fueron dispuestas para impedir la entrada de combustibles a nuestro pa\u00eds. Consolida una forma peligrosa de conducir la pol\u00edtica exterior de los Estados Unidos por v\u00eda de la fuerza y de ejercer sus ambiciones para garantizar su hegemonismo imperialista. Conforme a lo anunciado, ese pa\u00eds se adjudica el derecho de dictar a Estados soberanos con qu\u00e9 naciones pueden comerciar y a cu\u00e1les pueden exportar sus productos nacionales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La orden ejecutiva del Presidente de los Estados Unidos constituye, por tanto, una violaci\u00f3n flagrante del Derecho Internacional y atenta, adem\u00e1s, contra la Proclama de Am\u00e9rica Latina y el Caribe como Zona de Paz. Ratifica que es el gobierno de ese pa\u00eds el que atenta contra la seguridad, la estabilidad y la paz de la regi\u00f3n y del mundo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El gobierno de los Estados Unidos llega a este punto tras haber fracasado durante 67 a\u00f1os en rendir y destruir un proceso pol\u00edtico y revolucionario genuino y leg\u00edtimo, de plena soberan\u00eda, justicia social y fomento de la paz y la solidaridad con el resto del mundo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Est\u00e1 ampliamente documentada la disposici\u00f3n hist\u00f3rica de Cuba a sostener con el gobierno de los Estados Unidos un di\u00e1logo serio, responsable, basado en el Derecho Internacional, en la igualdad soberana, en el respeto mutuo, en el beneficio rec\u00edproco, sin injerencia en los asuntos internos y con absoluto respeto a la independencia y a la soberan\u00eda de los Estados.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Como todo el mundo conoce, incluyendo el propio gobierno estadounidense, Cuba no constituye amenaza alguna para los Estados Unidos, sus intereses nacionales o el bienestar de los ciudadanos de ese pa\u00eds que, adem\u00e1s, siempre han sido tratados con respeto y hospitalidad cuando su gobierno les ha permitido visitar la isla. Cuba no amenaza o agrede a pa\u00eds alguno. No es objeto de sanciones por parte de la comunidad internacional. Es un pa\u00eds de paz, solidario y cooperativo, dispuesto a ayudar y contribuir con otros Estados.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Es tambi\u00e9n el pa\u00eds de un pueblo aguerrido y combatiente. Se confunde el imperialismo cuando conf\u00eda en que con la presi\u00f3n econ\u00f3mica y el empe\u00f1o en provocar sufrimiento a millones de personas, se va a doblegar su determinaci\u00f3n de defender la soberan\u00eda nacional y de impedir que Cuba caiga, una vez m\u00e1s, bajo el dominio estadounidense. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tiene ante s\u00ed la comunidad internacional el reto ineludible de definir si un crimen de esta naturaleza podr\u00e1 ser el signo de lo que est\u00e1 por venir o si prevalecer\u00e1n la cordura, la solidaridad y el rechazo a la agresi\u00f3n, la impunidad y el abuso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enfrentaremos la nueva arremetida con firmeza, ecuanimidad y seguridad de que la raz\u00f3n est\u00e1 absolutamente de nuestra parte. La decisi\u00f3n es una: \u00a1Patria o Muerte, Venceremos!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
